Just wanted to say a quick congratulations to my friend Gabriel who is officially retiring from his old job to follow his dream as a wedding photographer - sorry I will miss the festivities to help celebrate! Check out Gabe's website at http://www.gabrielryan.net/photographer/the.art.of.story.html Anyone needing a wedding photographer in Southern California should check him out! Gabe and his wife Carlie are two of the nicest people you can possibly meet - I met them at a photographer's lunch about a year ago, and I have been a HUGE fan of them and their work ever since.
Happy Father's Day! Happy Father's Day to my husband especially -
the one who teaches our boys...
how to make butter from scratch,
how to google how many bones are in the human body (*206 in an adult skeleton, 350 in an infant)
how to whistle on a blade of grass,
how to kick Mommy in most gamed of wii,
how to be spontaneous about anything in life, especially road trips,
how to camp in one's backyard,
how to sleep late on weekends.... and much much MORE!
We love you!!
And then there is my Dad who is just the best father and grandfather in the world!
And Happy Father's Day to Mark's Dad, the SIlver Fox... the greatest father-in-law anyone could ask for!
I guess I officially have a first grader. Wow. When did this happen? My little baby is growing up too fast! Derek's teachers are retiring after being at our school since 1977! He had an amazing year with an incredible teacher, Ms. Radovcich, and a phenomenal teacher's aide, Mrs. Dawes. We had a great last day with lots of fun crafts and activities for the kids. We took the boys out to celebrate the end of Kindergarten - Derek wanted to go to Eat at Joe's for root beer floats and macaroni and cheese.
I love this comic strip by Aaron Johnson. It makes me laugh every day. I had to share this one! Yes, I too need to finish my scrapbooks. Child #1 is looking good, Child #2, well, I am working on it! So much for sitting on the living room floor 20 years from now, looking through old shoeboxes of photos...
Every once in a while I shoot a birthday party - it is not something I do very often, as I am usually busy with regular photo sessions. However, this weekend it worked out so that I was able to photograph little Siena's second birthday party. Her mom did a fabulous Old Hollywood theme, complete with a red carpet, a show, props, paparazzi (me) and sidewalk stars for all the kids. It was a ton of fun, and Siena is blessed with an incredible family!
The birthday girl fell asleep during the entertainment, so she rested for a bit...
She woke up rested and very ready to enjoy her cake and the red carpet!
Jake is the son of one of my best friends. They live in Florida, so when we were out there a week ago, we made sure to make some time to get some photos. He gave me about 15 minutes. He was too busy playing with my boys! Stay tuned for some more photos of our awesome visit to Orlando and of Rita - the dog. Rich, as promised - here is Jake on the blog.
